David Hume III

Senior HSSE Consultant

David, a bilingual English-Spanish safety professional, received a B.A. (Social Science) and a J.D. from the University of Baltimore and was awarded a research fellowship by University of Delaware’s College of Marine Studies, specializing in coastal zone legal-environmental issues. His experience spans over 40 years in risk management, safety management systems, environmental protection, and compliance. He was assigned as an assistant attorney general in Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control; he served as Lieutenant in the U.S. Coast Guard with specialties in marine safety and search and rescue; and he initiated safety management projects in 32 countries in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East as a risk management consultant for energy and port management companies. He originated a country-wide safety program for power generation, gas distribution and gas transportation operations in Mexico; reduced accident frequency and severity rates to below target by implementing behavior-based safety programs; prepared an employee safety manual; and established the 24/7 Operations Center in Mexico. David is a member of the board of directors for the non-profit Friends of Honduras USA established in 2009 and serves as the safety advisor to the CEO for the construction of schools, clinics, and the installation of safe drinking water systems. He is currently involved in a project to enhance the safety of Honduran roadways through construction of natural barriers against soil erosion.
