Speaker: Andy Sterlen, MESH, C-MESH, IH-MESH, OCSS – North Carolina Department of Labor, Occupational Safety & Health Administrative Division

Andy Sterlen is an environmental, safety & health professional with over 20 years of experience in industrial hygiene in the Chemical Industry. After graduating from NC State University, he began his career as a process chemist in the field of polymer chemistry where he was introduced to plant design and engineering which included integrating and maintaining a process safety management program. After 4 years, he returned to graduate school at NCSU in Pulp and Paper and Chemical Engineering after which he returned to industry as a plant manager and lead engineer and honed his professional safety skills by creating and managing an effective Process Safety Management program and chemical hygiene plan. After 13 years he joined NCDOL as a Health and Safety Education Specialist where instructs several widely varied topics from chemical hygiene and PSM to crane inspections and steel erection. Andy has MESH certifications in General Industry, Construction and Industrial Hygiene and is an OSHA Construction Safety Specialist.
