The North Carolina chapter was established on December 13th, 1955 as the first chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals in North Carolina. The territories have grown and changed over the years, with the Triad chapter covering the Greensboro and Winston-Salem area, the Tarheel chapter covering the Piedmont of the state, and the Western Carolina chapter covering the Hickory and Statesville area. Over the decades we have been blessed with strong leadership of health and safety professionals in the Raleigh-Durham area of the state. The North Carolina chapter has grown to over 460 professional members, and has a student section at ECU. At our June 2019 Officer Installation ceremony we were fortunate enough to have 8 former chapter Presidents in attendance. If you have ever thought of volunteering to support the North Carolina chapter, this is an example of the level of experience and support that you can expect to be surrounded by.
