LAURA JOYCE, MS, CHSP, CLSS-HC
ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY SPECIALIST
Laura Joyce graduated from UNC Greensboro in 1991 with a B.S in Human Development & Family Studies, then earned an MS in Occupational Safety & Health Technology from Columbia Southern University in 2016 and is now working on an MBA with a concentration in Healthcare. She achieved a GSB through the BCSP in 2019, and she is a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional through the International Board for Certification of Safety Managers since March of 2019. She also is a Certified Life Safety Specialist in Healthcare through the NFPA.
Laura has worked with Cone Health since June of 2008 as their Environmental Safety Specialist, managing and leading compliance with national accreditation standards for environmental health and safety, with a focus on life/employee safety, building infrastructure, construction projects, hazardous materials/waste and storage. She works to identify hazards and to improve safety of patients, staff, visitors, and property. Her work also ensures the monitoring of employee exposure to chemicals, that they receive the required training and is responsible for interfacing with regulatory agencies, insurance auditors, contractors, and vendors on EHS matters. She is a key contributor to the System Safety Committee, Emergency Management Committee, and response teams for multiple campuses.
